the Oxford Women* in Law Student Society (OWLSS) is a society founded and run by students at the University of Oxford.
We launched in 2019 in collaboration with the Oxford Women in Law (OWL) network for alumni. the foundation of the society coincided with the 100th anniversary of women in the UK entering the legal professions.
our fundamental objective is promoting greater gender equality and diversity in the legal sector. OWLSS provides a diverse and inclusive networking community for women*, non-binary, transgender and intersex people to connect, share experiences and support each other in building ambitious careers in the legal world. We will be collaborating with the growing alumni network Oxford Women in Law (OWL) to source speakers, mentors, and opportunities.
Welcome to the official website of the Oxford Women* in Law Society! We were founded in 2019 as a society to help equal the gaps in support for women trying to enter the profession, and all the work we do continues to be focused in this regard. It is my absolute honour, as the current President for Trinity Term 2023, to be continuing the work that we were founded to do.
I am fortunate to be surrounded by two incredibly motivated, hard-working committees (the general and executive), in whom I have complete faith to take the society to the next level, not just this term, but for those following.
Please have a look through the website, sign up to our mailing list and buy a membership to stay up-to-date with everything that is happening! Thank you for stopping by, and on behalf of the entire committee, we can’t wait to see you at our events.
Big OWLSS love x
